Stanley Herbert Byrum

Funeral services for Mr. Stanley Herbert Byrum, age 67, will be held at 4 pm on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Maple Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Eddie Mallonee officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 4-6 pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, 35 Meridian Springs Dr.; Jackson, TN 38301.

Mr. Byrum passed away on September 24, 2026, at home in Three Way, TN. He was born on November 12, 1958, in Jackson, TN to the late Herbert L. Byrum and Ruth Glenn Byrum.

If you knew Stan, you knew his love for basketball. You knew his passion for all things Larry Bird, the Boston Celtics, and especially the number 33. To those who knew him well, he was simply “Stan the Man.”

Whenever Stan had a little time away from work and providing for his family, you could usually find him somewhere with a basketball in his hands. It might be at a church gym, the YMCA, or anywhere else he could find a good pickup game with his friends. And make no mistake, Stan could play. Basketball was more than a pastime for him. It was his passion, his release, and the place where he could forget about everything else for a little while and simply enjoy the game he loved.

Stan spent much of his life working hard, taking care of his family, and making sure the people he loved had what they needed. But when the work was done, there was a basketball court waiting for him. Those who knew him will forever remember the man who loved his family deeply, loved the game of basketball passionately, and could always be counted on to be “Stan the Man.”

Mr. Byrum is survived by his wife, Sherry Byrum; sons, Brandon S. Byrum, Derrick Byrum (Brittany); brother, Robert Woods (Jo); grandchildren, Hayden Byrum, Ashlyn Byrum, Addison Zamagury.
