Funeral services for Mr. Roy Gene Corley, age 82, will be held at 6 pm on Sunday June 28, 2026, at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Williamson, Bro. Bill Elinor and Dr. Rick Learned officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home from 5-6 pm before the service.
Mr. Corley passed away on June 25, 2026, in Jackson, TN with his loving daughter by his side. He was born on March 9, 1944, in Evansville, IN to the late Ruby Christine Brunson Corley and Gleaford Leon Corley. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert “Bobby” Leon Corley (Patricia); and faithful K9 companion, Missy.
Mr. Corley was a 1962 graduate of Jackson High School and 1968 graduate of Union University. He retired from Conalco/Ormet in 2001 and later retired from Tennessee Department of Environment Water Supply Division in 2015. Mr. Corley was an active member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church. He was an avid hiker, canoer, kayaker, and fisherman. He enjoyed playing cards, country dancing and traveling. He had special respect for nature, showing compassion for all creatures great and small. His heart was devoted to his family. He was a Christian and loved the Lord. Roy's favorite bible verse is Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you". He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard.
Mr. Corley is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Corley Learned (Rick); grandchildren, Claire Learned, Kate Learned, Mary Jade Learned; nephew, Christopher Corley (Monica); niece, Caroline Corley Dunn (Dwight); Cheryl’s mother, Joyce Corley; family friend, Ilera “Rookie” Corley.
