Marty Edward Harvey
April 17, 1965 – August 11, 2026
Marty Edward Harvey, 61, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee. Anyone who knew Marty knew that music was simply part of who he was. Whether he was behind a drum set, running sound, holding a microphone at karaoke, or singing along to an Elvis song, Marty was happiest when there was music in the room. Through AMA Karaoke, he became a familiar face and voice to so many throughout the area. Over the years, what started with music turned into countless friendships, stories, laughs, and memories. Marty loved Elvis Presley, and in a way that seems almost too fitting to be coincidence, he spent his final day at Graceland. In true Marty Harvey fashion, his story ended in a place dedicated to the music and performer he loved so much. But music was not the most important part of Marty’s story. Marty knew God. For those who loved him, there is tremendous comfort in knowing that his death is not the end of his story. His family grieves his absence here while holding tightly to the promise that they will see him again. Marty was born April 17, 1965, in Transylvania, Louisiana, to Barbour Harvey and Shirley Singleton Harvey. He was a 1983 graduate of North Side High School in Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbour Harvey and Shirley Singleton Harvey, and his brother, Fabian Harvey.
Marty is survived by his wife, Allison Boyd Harvey, Jackson, TN; daughters, Amanda Harvey (Jeremy), Jackson, TN, and Alesha Payne (Mitch), Olive Branch, MS; siblings, Sherry Killough (Tommy), The Villages, FL; Garry Harvey (Lynn), Jackson, TN; Shelby Dickerson (Archie), Jackson, TN; and Connie Barton (Carl), The Villages, FL.
He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, sixteen great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, an uncle, extended family, and the many friends whose lives crossed Marty’s through family, music, karaoke, and all the years in between.
There will never be another Marty Harvey. The drums may be a little quieter, the karaoke nights a little different, and an Elvis song may hit a little harder now. But for the people who loved him, the music—and the memories—will play on.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home at the new location at 35 Meridian Springs Dr Jackson, TN. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 pm.
