Anne Maxwell passed away on May 30, 2025 in the afternoon at Henderson Health and Rehab. She was the daughter of James Farrar and Evelyn Jones Farrar, and sister of Jimmie Lynn Phillips and Dr. John Farrar (Alice). Anne was married to Gipsy Benton Maxwell for 64 years. They had three children: James Farrar Maxwell (Labina), Richard Benton Maxwell (Sijbrigje), and David William Maxwell (Jennifer). 8 grandchildren: Brandon Maxwell, Michael Fuller (Brittany), Cate Maxwell (Jay Gregory), Brittany Maxwell, Lucy Essary (Samuel), Benjamin Maxwell (Sydney), Nate Maxwell, Caleb Maxwell. One great grandchild Oaklee Crowley. Nieces Camille Phillips, Alicia Farrar; nephew Aaron Farrar, great niece Shelby Lucius, and great nephew Evan Farrar.
Anne was a P.K. (preacher's kid), which led to her love for Christ. This love became her passion for missions and working in the church as a Sunday School teacher, Children's Choir teacher, and playing the organ and piano. Her life's loves were Gipsy, her children, and her grandchildren---not to mention everyone else's children. She attended every sporting event, piano recital, dance recital, and school program she was able to attend.
Anne held many jobs, but her career was with American General Insurance. She played the piano and organ for Parkview Baptist Church and East Union Baptist Church for over 60 years, and she taught many piano lessons. She was a substitute teacher at Beech Bluff School and sold Home Interiors.
Anne Maxwell was preceded in death by her parents James and Evelyn Farrar, her husband Gipsy Maxwell, her son James Maxwell, and her niece Camille Phillips.
Funeral services for Mrs. Anne Maxwell will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at East Union Baptist Church with Dr. John Farrar and Bro. Mark Wade officiating. Interment will follow at Beech Bluff Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 1-2 pm before the service.
Pallbearers will be Nate Maxwell, Caleb Maxwell, Brandon Maxwell, Ben Maxwell, Sam Essary and Brody Herndon.
