Calvin M Yelverton

Graveside services for Mr. Calvin M Yelverton, Sr., age 76, will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Hollywood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 10 am – 12 pm before the service at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to be made to Youth Town of TN.

Mr. Yelverton passed away on June 15, 2025, at home, after a prolong illness, in Jackson, TN. He was born on November 27, 1948, in Jackson, TN to the late Ivey Franklin Yelverton and Hattie Mae Scott Yelverton. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Debra Lee Yelverton; brother, James Edward Yelverton.

Mr. Yelverton graduated from Northside High School in 1965. He served in the US Navy from 1968-1972 as an aircraft mechanic mate. Calvin and his wife, Debra, were cottage parents at Youth Town for many years. He obtained his welding degree from McKellar Sipes Vocational School and then went on to be a welder for over 30 years. He retired from Gerdau Jackson Steel Mill.

Mr. Yelverton is survived by his children, Vivian Denette Yelverton of Jackson, TN, Calvin M Yelverton, Jr. and Rebecca of Mercer, TN, Jason Haynie and Kathy of Toone, TN; siblings, Brenda Matthews, Shirley Forgey, Johnny Yelverton; grandchildren, Cole, Kyle, Michael, Emerald, Ava, Justin, Kayla; great grandchildren, Meredith, Kinsley Jean, and Aiden.
