Sandra Kaye Pope

Sandra Kay Pope was born December 29, 1942, to Robert and Jessie Mae Burke. She was the 5th of 7 children. She was raised in Jackson, TN and married the love of her life, Ernest Pope, on her 18th birthday in 1960. They made their home in Jackson, having 4 loving children of their own, Tina Pope, Rhonda Rushing, Sonny Pope, and April Pope Smith. They also had one unborn son. Sandra was saved at West Jackson Baptist at 8 years old, and never stopped living a life that honored her Heavenly Father. She was a member at Bible Grove Baptist Church and was directly responsible for leading many to Christ. Sandra was proceeded in death by her parents, Jessie Mae and Robert Burke; sisters, Bobbie Jean Shelton (JM), Dianne Brooks (Robert), Sherry Scott (Ronnie); brothers, Charles Burke, John Robert Burke; sister-in-law, Bourbon King; daughters, Tina Pope, Rhonda Rushing, and her unborn son also named John Robert. Sandra was survived by her sister, Janette Ing (Ray); sister-in-law, Nelda Burke, sister-in-law Linda Pope Gilmore (Dave); children Ernest, Jr. "Sonny" , April Smith (Tony), and Randy Rushing; grandchildren, Christy Rushing Hollamon, Drew Pope (Brittney), Tyler Rushing, Logan Rushing Cole (Jordan), Brooke Smith, Addisyn Smith, and Clay Smith; great-grandchildren Makala and Malachi Hollamon, Daisy Pope, Brentlie Campbell, Ryelyn Campbell, Aurora Rushing, Korbynn Pope, Elias Pope, and many, many, nieces and nephews. Graveside services at Ridgecrest Cemetery will be held 2 pm Sunday, September 5, 2021, with Bro. Tommy Stutts officiating.
