On Thursday May 18, 2023, a faithful servant of Jesus passed away from this life to await his resurrected body. Nick "Pop" Korn was born February 14, 1939, to Thomas and Iris Korn in Batesville, Arkansas. He met the love of his life Peggy (Mann), while studying agriculture at the University of Missouri, and after fulfilling his commitment as an officer in the U.S.Army, Mr. and Mrs. Korn settled in Brownsville. They built a successful farming operation that was truly a family affair which included their daughters, Nancy, Betsy, Mary, and Linda.

Nick's life changed forever in 1981, when he encountered Jesus in a way not unlike Paul the apostle. He immediately began gathering teenagers at their home, the "Korn Krib" and formed the CIA (no not that one), Christians in Action. "Pop" used adventure sports, long distance cycling, and camping to encourage generations of young men and women in their pursuit of living godly lives.

Nick and Peggy would have been married 62 years in August. They could be seen riding all over Brownsville on their tandem bike, often inviting teens to join them at Christian summer camps like FCA and KAA. Pop was intense and competitive, which also led him to give devotionals and encouragement to area high school athletes.

While Pop was very passionate about his cattle, bicycling and Jesus, he also loved a good joke. He loved to work hard and play hard. Young people memorized scripture verses written on index cards taped to their handlebars - often riding across Tennessee or all the way to Mexico on a mission trip!

One of Pop's favorite verses from Hebrews says,

" ... And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith."

Hebrews 12:1-2

Pop's work is done, now it's your turn.

Nick is survived by his wife, Peggy Korn; daughters, Nancy Currey (David), Betsy Redmon (Garry), Mary Tims (Doug), Linda O’Gorman (Ned); sister, Kathy Korn; grandchildren, Sadie Currey, John Currey (Ariel), Luke Currey, Sam Currey, Maggie Currey, Sarah Tims, Ben Tims (Ginny), Hannah Beal (Kaleb), Rebecca Ritterling (Ethan), Jennipher Tims, Freddy Tims (Paola), Graham O’Gorman, Will O’Gorman, and Mariclare O’Gorman; five great grandchildren.
