Johnny Ray Roach, Sr.

Johnny Ray Roach Sr., 82,departed this life Sunday morning January 14, 2024, peacefully at his daughter Lori and David Root's home after a long battle with cancer.


Johnny was born February 25, 1941, in Madison County, the son of the late Cleo Jack Roach and Nauline Ward Myracle. He was a painter with Stewart Painting Company for many years of his life. He loved watching college football and the Titans. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing at the river. He had a loving heart, and he was loved by all who knew him.


Johnny is survived by his daughter, Lori Root (David); son, Johnny Ray Roach Jr.; one sister, Pat Briley; stepsister, Janet Myracle; 4 grandchildren, Chris Myracle (Sarah), Patrick Moore (Megan), Johnny Gross (Lori), Benjamin Murchison; 2 great grandchildren, Ezrah Moore and Elora Gross; a special great nephew, Dustin Hale (Jennifer); his lifelong friend of over 70 years, Orban Goff; the only love of his life and mother to his two children, Cynthia Wheat Gross, and many other family and friends.


He is proceeded in death by his sister, Rosalie Stewart; his brother, Jackie Roach; stepfather, James Myracle.


Per his request he will be cremated, and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society in his memory.
