James Wilkins, Jr.

James G. Wilkins, Jr, “Jimmy” or “Pops” passed to his heavenly home on Friday, July 28, 2023. He was born March 25, 1951 to the late James Sr and Daphne Wilkins of Medon, TN. Jimmy married Barbara Elaine King and they built a life of more than 52 years together. Jimmy was a member of Southside HS Class of 1969 and fondly worked to stay in touch with classmates. He loved baseball, photography, fast cars and his family. Jimmy spent a lot of time in recent years working on genealogy and obituaries at the Jackson library. He loved recounting stories of helping others connect to their past.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and a daughter, Cathy. He is survived by his wife Barbara, sons David Wilkins(Lacey) and Steven Wilkins, brother Marvin Wilkins (Barbara) and grandchildren, Abigail and Anthony James Wilkins, who were the apple of his eye.

The family will receive visitors at Clover Creek Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 1st at 11am. Service will be at noon with a meal following. Burial will be at a later date. The family asks that you plan to attend the meal as part of the celebration of Jimmy's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation in Jimmy's honor to an organization of your choosing.
