James David Emerson

Mr. James David Emerson, Sr. passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on January 19, 2021, at 5 pm at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was born to Tommy Emerson and Estelle Hunt Emerson on September 5, 1943. He worked for GM&O Railroad and later for ICG railroad. He enjoyed Bluegrass, and Gospel music and he also taught himself to play the banjo. Mr. Emerson was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Edward and Ernest Emerson, and grandson, Bradley Thomas Emerson. Mr. Emerson leaves his wife of 57 years, Loma Pierce Emerson; sons, David Emerson (Cindy) of Jackson, Dennis Emerson (Kim) of Jackson, Russell Emerson (Jody) of Milan; he was known as Pawpaw to his eight grandchildren, Dan Emerson (Jessica), Stan Emerson, Heather Cook (Cody), Dylan Emerson, Kennedy Emerson, Cody Emerson (Amber), Hannah Puckett (Austin), and Nathan Emerson, all from Jackson; six step grandchildren, Catlyn Rogers, Cody Elliot, Seth Elliot, Brooklyn, Braydon, Brittnie; great grandchildren, Hayden Emerson, Ahlaya Emerson, Rylee Emerson, Adeline Cook, Tyler Emerson, Emery Puckett, and Ashlee Chilcutt. A graveside service for Mr. Emerson will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Rev. Brian Maness officiating. There will be a visitation with the family at the cemetery from 12-1 pm prior to the service.
