Belinda Chaney Burkhead, 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, in Jackson. Belinda was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Carolyn Crownover. Belinda is survived by her husband and long-time love, Mike Burkhead. They were together for 36 years. Mike tirelessly cared for Belinda during her illness over the last five years. Belinda is also survived by her daughter, Missy (Matt) Mayer and son, Anthony (Amanda) Chaney; five grandchildren, Madeline, Bailey, Madison, Austin, and Alstott; sister, Patricia Dowdell of Oklahoma; several beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Belinda worked in the cafeteria at South Side High School for 30+ years. She also loved doing various crafts. She was known for her generous giving of her talents and making hundreds of blankets for various people in their times of celebration. She was an amazing cook and always asked by her children and grandchildren to make her rolls and brownies. Belinda was a member of First Baptist Church Bemis and the Lydia Ladies Life Group Class. She was a member of the PLARN making team at FBC Bemis making sleeping mats for the homeless. She loved to fish and taught her grandchildren her craft. On many days, if she had a free moment, you would find her fishing. The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and prayers over the past 5 years of Belinda’s illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home with Bro. John Gators officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-3 pm before the service.
